In addition, various client-specific organic mixtures are available on request. To be allowed to call a product ‘organic’, the production must comply with certain legal rules. Organic farming maintains the natural balance between humans, plants and animals. No artificial fertilizers and no chemically synthetic pesticides are used. Animals are kept in the best possible natural conditions, both in terms of habitat and nutrition. Furthermore, applications of genetically modified organisms are not permitted!
European legislation stipulates that a plant, animal or product may only be marketed as ‘organic’ if it comes from certified and organic production. Commissioned by the Dutch government, the foundation Skal is the certifying body for organic producers. In addition, the foundation generally supervises compliance with the legal rules on organic production. It also provides a constant flow of information to both consumers and producers.
SKAL certification protects the consumer against deception. This will prevent fraud in market transactions. Organic products are recognizable by the indication ‘organic’ but often also by the EKO quality mark.
